London Solid Wood Ladder Back Dining Chair – Tall or Short

Bring timeless country charm, natural hardwood beauty, and traditional craftsmanship to your dining room with the London Solid Wood Ladder Back Dining Chair. Handcrafted in Ontario by skilled Mennonite furniture makers, this classic wooden dining chair is made from solid wormy maple and designed to complement a wide variety of dining tables and home interiors.

Available in Tall Back and Short Back styles, the London Dining Chair combines the familiar appeal of a traditional ladder-back design with the warmth and distinctive character of genuine hardwood. Whether you're furnishing a farmhouse kitchen, a family dining room, or a cozy country cottage, this versatile chair offers a welcoming, timeless appearance.

Choose Your Style – Tall Back or Short Back

The London Ladder Back Dining Chair is available in two distinctive backrest designs, allowing you to select the look that best suits your dining space.

Tall Back Ladder Back Chair

The Tall Back version features a traditional, taller wooden backrest with horizontal ladder-style rungs. Its classic silhouette creates an attractive presence around farmhouse dining tables, larger kitchen tables, and traditional dining room furniture.

Short Back Ladder Back Chair

The Short Back version features the same London chair styling with one fewer horizontal backrest rung, creating a lower-profile design. Its simpler appearance works beautifully in breakfast nooks, smaller dining rooms, and kitchens where a more understated chair back is preferred.

Both options offer the natural beauty of solid hardwood and can be coordinated with your preferred dining table and stain colour.

Solid Wormy Maple with Natural Character

Each London Dining Chair is handcrafted from solid wormy maple, a durable hardwood known for its attractive grain patterns, natural mineral streaks, and distinctive colour variations.

These natural markings give each chair its own unique appearance while creating a coordinated look when several chairs are arranged around the same table.

Choose from a selection of available stain colours to complement your dining room furniture, or select an unfinished chair if you prefer to apply your own finish.

The traditional ladder-back design pairs naturally with farmhouse, rustic, cottage, country, and classic dining room interiors.

Classic Wooden Dining Chairs for Everyday Gatherings

From everyday family meals to special occasions, the London Solid Wood Dining Chair brings warmth and traditional character to your dining space.

Its versatile design makes it an attractive companion to rectangular farmhouse tables, round kitchen tables, and handcrafted solid wood dining sets.

For a distinctive dining room arrangement, consider combining Tall Back and Short Back London Chairs around the same table. This creates a coordinated appearance while introducing subtle variation in chair height and design.

Frequently Asked Questions – London Ladder Back Dining Chair

1. How do I know if the London Dining Chair will fit comfortably under my dining table?

Before ordering, measure the distance from the floor to the underside of your dining table, including any apron or supporting framework. Compare this measurement with the chair's seat height and allow sufficient clearance for comfortable seating and movement. Also consider the space between table legs and the room needed to pull chairs away from the table. Contact Cinnamon Cabin Co. for the London Chair's exact dimensions if you are coordinating it with an existing dining table.

2. Is the London Ladder Back Chair comfortable for everyday dining?

A traditional ladder back chair can be a practical choice for everyday meals, offering a supportive wooden backrest and classic seating design. Comfort depends on individual preferences, chair dimensions, and how long you typically remain seated. For customers who prefer a softer seat, a properly fitted removable chair cushion may provide additional comfort while preserving the chair's natural wood appearance.

3. Can I order London Dining Chairs to match a dining table I already own?

Yes. The London Dining Chair is available in a selection of stain colours, making it possible to coordinate with many existing dining tables. Because wood species, grain patterns, age, and existing finishes can affect colour, an exact match cannot always be guaranteed. If you're matching older furniture or a particular stain, contact Cinnamon Cabin Co. to discuss available samples and finishing options before ordering.

4. How much space should I allow for each London Dining Chair around my table?

As a general planning guideline, allow approximately 24 inches of table-edge space per person, although wider chairs or dining arrangements may require additional room. Leave enough space behind each chair for someone to sit down and stand up comfortably. The ideal spacing depends on the chair's actual width, your table design, and nearby walls or furniture. Measuring your dining area before ordering will help create a comfortable dining arrangement.

5. How should I clean and maintain my London solid wood dining chairs?

Dust regularly with a soft cloth and clean occasional spills promptly using a slightly damp cloth, followed by a dry one. Avoid abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, excessive moisture, and prolonged exposure to direct heat or sunlight. Maintaining reasonably consistent indoor humidity can also help reduce seasonal wood movement. If your chairs are ordered unfinished, apply a suitable protective furniture finish before regular dining use and follow the finish manufacturer's care recommendations.

6. Can I order additional London Dining Chairs later to expand my dining set?

Additional London Dining Chairs may be ordered separately, subject to current availability and production arrangements. If you expect to expand your dining set in the future, keep a record of your original chair style, stain colour, and finish selection. Natural variations in wood and differences between finishing batches may result in slight colour variations. Contact Cinnamon Cabin Co. when ordering additional chairs so we can help coordinate them with your existing set.
